The Holborn and St Pancras by-election results are imminent, with anticipation building across north London as voters await the outcome of the contest to succeed former Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

In a surprising turn, the Greens have acknowledged their defeat, stating they have secured a “close second” against Labour. A spokesperson for the party expressed pride in their performance, emphasizing the significance of challenging Labour in one of its strongholds.

“It is clear now we will come a close second in this by-election. Taking the fight to Labour in one of its safest seats shows just how far the Greens have come,” the spokesperson remarked. They also highlighted the electorate’s desire for accountability, particularly on pressing issues such as affordable housing, the public ownership of water, and the climate crisis. “Greens will be there every single day, holding Labour to account and demanding the change people voted for,” they added.
