Concerns are mounting about the dangers of relying on digital tools for navigating the wilderness, as illustrated by a recent incident in British Columbia.
Last week, 16-year-old Bryce Vincent Gowryluk attempted to scale the Widowmaker Arete, a daunting 1,700-foot rock face. The climb, which is often labeled as “mostly easy slab climbing,” presents hidden challenges, including steep sections that require specific climbing skills and equipment.
Unfortunately, Gowryluk was unprepared for the ascent and instead turned to the AI chatbot Claude for guidance.
