A contentious legal battle has emerged between Ukrainian officials and a prominent British theatre producer, Liana Patarkatsishvili, along with her billionaire family. The dispute revolves around their 34% ownership stake in one of Ukraine’s leading bottled water companies, which they co-own with a Russian oligarch.
This family-owned stake is now at the center of Ukraine’s efforts to nationalize the company amidst rising tensions and regulatory scrutiny. Patarkatsishvili, known for her recent work on an immersive theatrical production featuring actors Toby Jones and Meera Syal, finds herself in a precarious position as the Ukrainian government seeks to take control of the lucrative bottled water brand.
