A recent independent review, spearheaded by Donna Ockenden, has been initiated following a concerted effort from families and a media investigation into a troubling pattern of deaths in maternity care.
In 2021, Susan Cacciacarro found herself in a distressing situation as she approached the final weeks of her pregnancy. At nearly 37 weeks along with her daughter Chiara, she awoke one day to the alarming realization that she could no longer feel her baby moving.
“My belly just didn’t feel right,” Cacciacarro recounted. “I didn’t feel any movements.”
