The yellow-legged hornet, originally from south-east Asia, has been making its presence felt in Europe since its arrival in 2004. Experts believe that the warm springs and summers of recent years have contributed to its rapid proliferation, leading to what some are calling “pollinator deserts.”
As these hornets disrupt local pollinator populations, the implications for food security become increasingly serious, prompting calls for immediate action.
