These pioneers are not merely preserving the past; they are actively reshaping it by mastering skills often reserved for men, such as navigating motorboats and crafting gondolas. Among them are female gondoliers, a skilled boat builder known as a maestra d’ascia, the only woman operating a traditional sandolo, and an instructor in lagoon navigation.

Venice, often dubbed the “impossible city,” captivates visitors with its unique waterways and rich heritage. While many see a city frozen in time, it is, in fact, a living entity—constantly evolving beneath the surface.

Beatrice, at just 28 years old, is part of this transformative movement. She has embraced her role as a gondolier for a year, navigating the iconic traghetto ferry that traverses the Grand Canal, showcasing both skill and determination.
