In a remarkable turn of events, a Chinese man and a Nepali woman were successfully rescued in separate operations as efforts to locate thousands of missing persons continued ten days after devastating floods struck Nepal.
On Saturday, the Nepali military announced that a collaborative rescue team, which included its army along with South Korean disaster response experts, managed to extract the Chinese man from a 225-meter tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project. Following the rescue, he was airlifted to safety and is currently undergoing a medical evaluation. Images captured the moment he was evacuated by helicopter after being brought out of the tunnel.
