When Gilly McArthur stumbled upon a wounded bumblebee queen named Phoebee, she never imagined that the little creature would defy the odds. Found abandoned on the roadside with a broken wing, Phoebee was expected to succumb shortly after being rescued. However, fifty-two days later, she is thriving and even exploring her caretaker’s hair.
“I couldn’t just leave her there to die,” McArthur recalls. “So, I took her home and fashioned a cozy bed out of flowers, fully expecting her to pass within a day.”
