In a thrilling finish at stage 14 of the Vuelta a España, German cyclist Marco Brenner outpaced Santiago Buitrago from Bahrain Victorious, marking a significant milestone as both his first Grand Tour victory and a triumph for his Tudor team. As temperatures soared above 40 degrees Celsius, race officials made the decision to shorten the originally planned 189.7 km route from Palma del Río to Córdoba to just 110.2 km for safety reasons.
During the final stretch, Brenner stayed close to Buitrago, waiting for the perfect moment to launch his attack. With determination, he surged ahead in the final ascent to Sierra de La Pandera, crossing the finish line just one second before Buitrago.
